One of the most recognisable British Impressionists, Julius Olsson's work is both distinctive and charismatic. Primarily known for his atmospheric ocean views, the present work is a departure, and reminiscent of Claude Monet, in terms of subject matter.

With the sea in the distance, Olsson captures the summer heat, the suns rays reflecting off the hay, almost dazzling the viewer. It is likely to have been executed in Cornwall, where the artist lived.
